Hamlets Relationships with Women in Hamlet by William Shakespeare Essa
Hamlet's Relationships with Women in Hamlet by William Shakespeare When reading Hamlet it becomes clear right from the beginning that Hamlet has a deep relationship with his mother, Gertrude, because he loves and respects her so much. In the opening scene we can see Hamlet and Gertrude engaged in tender, loving behaviour. But as the play develops we see this relationship suffer some great dents. Gertrude?s role in Hamlet is to show us how Hamlets insanity develops, her actions are a big part of what drives Hamlet mad. Because when she marries his uncle so soon after his fathers death Hamlet feels she is acting in such a betraying way that he is almost incapable of forgiving her. He has difficulties in coping with his fathers sudden death and to see his mother kiss and cuddle her new treacherous husband almost drives Hamlet over the edge. Hamlet, not wanting to offend his mother by telling her about his disapproval, hides his true feelings about the marriage. His disapproval then grows into hatred and is not let out until Hamlet approaches his mother boldly by taunting he...

The weight of the nation
The movie we watched is called ââ¬Å"The weight of the nationâ⬠. I learned that:Worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980.In 2008, more than 1.4 billion adults, 20 and older, were overweight. Of these over 200 million men and nearly 300 million women were obese.35% of adults aged 20 and over were overweight in 2008, and 11% were obese. >65% of the world's population live in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight.More than 40 million children under the age of five were overweight in 2011.Obesity is preventable. Most of the food commercials make you want to eat.My reaction to this movie is that people started eating more food over the 30 years so they should start taking food seriously.à What makes people obese isà an increased intake of energy-dense foods that are high in fat and an increase in physical inactivity due to the increasingly sedentary nature of many forms of work, changing modes of transportation, and increasing urbanizati on.Not only the food matters but your physical activities that you do every day. Childhood obesity is associated with a higher chance of obesity, premature death and disability in adulthood. But in addition to increased future risks, obese children experience breathing difficulties, increased risk of fractures, hypertension, early markers of cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance and psychological effects. Overweight and obesity, as well as their related noncommunicable diseases, are largely preventable. Supportive environments and communities are fundamental in shaping peopleââ¬â¢s choices, making the healthier choice of foods and regular physical activity the easiest choice (accessible, available and affordable), and therefore preventing obesity. At the individual level, people can:limit energy intake from total fats and sugars;increase consumption of fruit and vegetables, as well as legumes, whole grains and nuts; >engage in regular physical activity (60 minutes a day for children and 150 minutes per week for adults).

How to Play Basketball Essay
In order to play basketball, you need one basketball and two basketball hoops on opposite ends of the court. The hoops should be ten feet high. In an original game, you should form two teams of five individuals apiece would be the requirements. If a court just so happens to be full or fewer players are available, a game with one hoop can be played using alternate rules. The object is for you to score more baskets than your opponent. You should play a typical game for sixty minutes with four fifteen-minute periods, but you really can determine the length yourself. For you to start the game, the wo teams you formed, line up around the two centers. Each of your players matches up against another based on height and skill to make it fair. The referee throws the ball straight up and the two of you who are playing the position center, jump up to gain possession. The goal for you is to ââ¬Å"tipâ⬠the ball to your teammates to gain possession. Remember Basketball is much as an offensive game as defensive game. When you have the ball, all of the members of your team are on offense. On offense you are trying to score points by shooting the ball into the opposing teamââ¬â¢s basket. Each ââ¬Å"basketâ⬠your team scores is worth two points. Baskets scored outside the three-point line (an arc-shaped line beyond the free throw line) are worth three points. On offense you need to advance the ball, you can advance the ball in two ways: by passing and dribbling. First Dribbling, you need to take the ball and bounce it on the floor in a continuous motion. This is the process of dribbling. You can move your feet and body in any direction as long as you are dribbling but if you move in any direction without dribbling the ball then that is a violation. The goal for your team on offense isâ⬠¦

heretability of attitudes essays
heretability of attitudes essays The Heritability of Attitudes After researching and reading The Heritability of attitudes- a Study of Twins done by James Olsen, Philip Vernon, Julie Harris, and Kerry Lang, a study done to test how attitudes are obtained in our personalities, the results seem to prove a point thought of for many years: that genetics and the individuals environment are the causes for how they develop their attitudes on subjects. This goes to support the nature nurture discussion and proves that they both play a leading role in attitudinal development among children. To begin we see that, as stated previously s this study was done to test heritability and environmental effects of attitudes by testing 195 sets of monozygotic twins and 141 sets of same sex dizygotic twins. It was conducted to try and answer the question whether attitudes in individuals are inherited genetically, or are environmental effects the cause of peoples opinions and attitudes on various subjects and topics. Prior to the test the scientists hypothesis was that attitudes are learned and caused by the environment and that attitudes develop through experience and are therefore determined by environmental factors (life experiences) Some of the major major themes played in the study included the nature/nurture debate, does environment affect attitudes, socio-cultural influence on children, and how does socio-cultural context affect development and individual differences in development. This study is of interest to me because being a twin, I like to see how twins are used to confirm of disprove tests and studies. I was also interested in the study as finding the cause of attitudes and various behaviors was of interest to me. These issues in the study seem to be of importance to society as they uncover much needed information regarding how peoples attitudes are formed, and be learning how they are indeed formed, we can begin to take a look...

How To Make Your Work With A Supervisor Effective
How To Make Your Work With A Supervisor Effective How To Choose The Right Supervisor And To Work With Your Tutor Right? When you start working with your supervisor on your dissertation, you may expect that this will be the same student-tutor type of relationship. This is the one that you got used to and you most likely feel comfortable with. But you need to understand that working on a dissertation required more than that. We will disclose in this article that you need to pay attention to the interpersonal skills as well. Your collaboration will require mutual understanding and clarity in order to make your work together effectively. Choosing the right tutor For undergraduates and Masterââ¬â¢s students universities usually assign supervisors in advance. This choice is affected by the topic you offer and the field of study, of course. But in fact, the process of choosing the right supervisor can be really challenging for the student. This is one of the most important aspects that will affect all further work on your dissertation. You work with a tutor on your paper will shape and direct your thoughts, approaches, and solutions for the selected topic. So you need to be considering in approving collaboration with one or another supervisor. We have prepared questions you should ask yourself before you will make a choice. This will help you to start good professional relationships with the right purpose. Is your supervisor familiar with your sub-field and topic? You may consider this question weird, but in fact, it is very reasonable. Students sometimes consider that if their supervisor is well-aware of the general field you are working in, he/she will be an expert in your sub-field as well. But in fact, the wider knowledge does not always mean that the person can understand right your topic in the narrower field. Also, you cannot expect that your supervisor has read all the books, articles and works of other scholars in order to get an understanding of the topic (as you might do). Most experienced supervisors understand this and refuse to work with some graduates simply because they realize they have a lack of expertise in the particular sub-field. While some relatively young academics may mistakenly consider that they will be able to help you with your work, even if they do not have enough depth of knowledge. In this case, you need to check the suitability of this person to your dissertation by yourself. Does he/she share your choice of direction? It is okay that you and your supervisor may have minor disagreements during your work. Moreover, some of them may be really important as soon as they are supported by constructive arguments. But you also need to remember that there are approaches in one field that can be completely opposite. So do your best to pick the supervisor who will share the same assumptions as you, instead of starting working with a person who obviously has completely different views in your topic. Does he/she share your working patterns and expectations? By the moment you start writing your dissertation you probably already know what kind of supervisor you need for the productive continuation of your work. If you know that you may procrastinate sometimes and do simple things too slowly, you may look for the person who will be strict enough to stimulate your work and following deadlines. Or maybe you are motivated enough to work constantly and you do not want too much interruption into your writing process. Then you may look for the tutor who will be ready to revise your chapters when you ask them, no sooner or later, providing you with detailed and constructive comments. Do you get the decent level of attention to your work with quality recommendations and good criticism? Does the selected supervisor have enough influence on you to motivate, stimulate or direct you? How many students are working with him/her right now? Some supervisors can be really popular so many students request working with them. But eventually, this may have a bad impact as this can reduce the quality of work with each student. Moreover, in this case, the supervisor needs to switch between topics too often that may cause confusions as well. But another side of the coin is not good as well. If nobody wants to work with a particular person, they could have reasons for that. Working process with your supervisor You and your supervisor need to understand that you are now starting the working relationship, which requires mutual understanding, sharing professional views and so on. The form of the relationships you will have with your supervisor will depend on the subject you are working in, but most of all it will be affected by the working patterns that you will choose. Anyway, you need to read and take into consideration our following recommendations. Work with your supervisor, not for him Being a student you probably got used to the particular model of behavior and communication with your tutors. During modules, you receive the particular tasks that you need complete in a particular way to satisfy the teacherââ¬â¢s requirements. This model also works during passing the exams when you express thoughts that your professor wants to her. And when you start working on with your tutor on your dissertation you may feel like fulfilling his/her requests as well. Despite the fact that your paper should meet the particular requirements specified by your department, still, you should not be oriented at satisfying your supervisor though. You need to reconsider your attitude and think of your supervisor more like teammate rather than the examiner. You are working together on the same goal and you are the author of the research in the first place. Just like with teamwork, you need to consider the person you are in collaboration right now. You need to do what you are asked for and do not miss deadlines and tasks. Provide the chapter, draft or the piece of research when you promised to your supervisor in order to keep on the same track and gradually fulfill your paper. But you also need to keep in mind another significant aspect of the working in the team: being clear in what you want to get from your teammate. You can give your supervisor a first draft in order to check up whether you have chosen the right direction. But your supervisor may consider that this is the nearly completed part of the paper and it may cause serious confusion. So as soon as you ask for help, feedback, recommendation, make sure that you have explained on what stage you are now and of what ââ¬Å"flawsâ⬠of your current version of dissertation you are aware of. Engage your supervisor at the first stages of work Most supervisors realize the importance of their control over the early stages of dissertation writing. That is why they often insist on often meetings during this period. But sometimes supervisors may be ââ¬Å"hands-offâ⬠and do not insist on this way of collaboration. That is the situation when you need to control this aspect by yourself. Involve your tutor in the process of planning as this stage can affect all further work. Defining all the important aspects and directions will guide you in your work on the dissertation and prevent the majority of common mistakes. Moreover, there will be fewer risks that your dissertation will require serious making over. You can get a bunch of useful info from your supervisor, for instance, what books, articles and works to read or what researches to study. With this approach in the early stages, you will get receiving the required theoretical and practical skills that will make your dissertation creation productive. Arrange often meetings with your supervisor to check the process stage by stage Nothing in the educational process can be more disappointing than bringing to your supervisor 200 pages of your work and receive the comment that you need to start over because your starting point was wrong. That is why you need to develop a habit to arrange meetings with your tutor as often as possible to check every chapter and the stage of production. Discuss the next steps of your plan and their relevance to the dissertation in general. This will prevent you from being stuck on the same level and you will constantly receive guidelines of what you need to study more to move forward. Do not think that your supervisor expects only completed work from you. Sure thing, you have to cover minor aspects like grammar check and proper formatting by yourself. But this is not your regular tutor. Your supervisor needs to see your progress and trace it. If you will provide a chapter that looks good and contain no grammar mistakes, you will let your supervisor see the actual content and base his/her feedback on it. Conduct productive disagreements You and your supervisor are different people and it is normal if you will have minor disagreements considering the working on your dissertation. He/she does not have to agree with you on any level. But as soon as you have any issues, turn them to the advantageous path. Discuss why your supervisor suggests a different approach or criticize your thoughts. Do not be afraid of such situations. Of course, it may be daunting when you hear that you might be wrong in the thing that you pay so much time for. But on the other hand, consider this as an opportunity to grow as well as the chance to train your communication skills when you need to defend your views. Do not be afraid to change the supervisor There are rare cases when undergraduates cannot make their work with the supervisor productive. The reasons can vary. In some situations you can realize too late that your supervisor does not want to support your ideas, making you write an entirely different paper. Or you may find their comments impenetrable and demoralizing. Or your supervisor does not pay attention to your meeting request and you cannot get in touch with him/her for weeks. Anyway, you can eventually decide that you need to switch the tutor and start working with another supervisor. This is possible and you need to address your request to the head of the department. Do not be afraid to do so as this is your work in the first place and only you are responsible for it.

Environmental Science - population management Essay
Environmental Science - population management - Essay Example Nature can only sustain us for so long; although its resources do regenerate to a certain degree, humans have to consider the stress sustained to the environment because of our increasing numbers. Our dangerously limited carrying capacity is having an adverse effect on natural resources, thereby necessitating population management through such policies as adaptive management. Carrying capacity of the world is quickly coming to a dangerous level. Advanced technology and new scientific breakthroughs have provided a quality of life hard to give up in the developed and stable parts of the world. With increased resources, conveniences, and various other means of enjoyment at our finger tips, we have become accustomed and even dependent on such lifestyles. Humans are continuing to multiply, all the while abusing resources and depleting and consuming them at an alarming rate. The increased consumption of natural resources is not only putting a strain on the environment but also causing mult iple global issues. For example, increased consumption in only the industrialized countries of the world, has contribute more than 40% global carbon emissions and over 60% carbon dioxide from fossil fuel combustion in the atmosphere (Global Population and Environment). The use of fossil energy like, oil, gas, and coal, has led to an increase in economy and quality of life propelling population growth and in turn reinforcing increased consumption in a vicious cycle (Pimentel et. al.). Also, all over the world, increased land, water, and biological consumption have caused serious strains on natural resources. The continuous use of land for agricultural purposes to support our dietary needs has led to the loss of sustainable land due to degradation and erosion (Pimentel et. al.). The increased erosion rates have resulted in poor soil quality, lower nutrient levels and decreased soil renewal. This has led to food shortages in the developing nations, giving rise to diseases and malnutrit ion. Increased water consumption and urbanization patterns have led to the scarcity of clean drinking water. This shortage is further propelled by the depletion and slow recharge rate of groundwater and increased water pollution through toxic and agricultural wastes (Pimentel et. al.). Lastly, humans are also dependent on other species to maintain the growth and function of ecosystems around the world. Due to our increased pollution, degradation of land, and deforestation, we have significantly destroyed and decreased earthââ¬â¢s biodiversity (Pimentel et. al.). Population increase has led to the very destruction of the environment and natural resources we are highly dependent on. When looking at population management, the maximum sustainable yield has to be greatly considered. There is a limit to how much nature can yield, such as water, energy, and various biological resources, before it is exhausted and depleted. Populations are increasing worldwide and putting a strain on the environmentââ¬â¢s sustainability. For example, despite Chinaââ¬â¢s one child policy by the government, its inhabitants are still growing at an annual rate of approximately 1.2% (Pimentel et. al.)The environment does not have unlimited resources at its disposable with which to sustain and provide for us. The rates at which these resources are being used up far exceed the speed at which they are recycled, regenerated, and recovered. It only took forty years since 1950 for the human population to double from 2.5 to 5 billion (Population Growth Over Human History).

A definition of capitalism Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
A definition of capitalism - Assignment Example , the two authors argue that the social factors which affect the business should also be put into consideration while determining the capital needed for a business venture. These factors are fundamental in the operation of a business if returns are to be made. The assertion by the two is true. If any factor affects production, for instance, it should be incorporated in the economic postulations of the business. This is because if the factor has a negative effect on the business, then it would offset the returns of the same. Likewise, if the factor contributes positively to the business, then it would be like an asset to the same. Consequently, this makes it important to consider such factors as the social relations which would affect the business. Some of these factors include the environmental attributes within which the business is operating in. For instance, they can be factors such as investorsââ¬â¢ confidence or even political stability. A good environmental boosts the busine ss while a contrary one will be detrimental to the business. Bearing this in mind, it is true that social relations are the unseen part of a businessââ¬â¢
